RESHUFFLES TOP OFFICERS |

The Comptroller
General of immigration Mr. Chukwurah Udeh has
carried out a minor reshufflement of Asst.
Comptrollers General of Immigration at the Service
Headquarters
2. With this
development, Mrs. Funmi Odubela-Aduroja moves from
Operations to Border Patrol Unit while Mr. Bakare
Betso takes over Operations from ECOWAS and
African Affairs Section. Similarly, Mr. Usman
Muktari has been redeployed from the
Deportation/Repatriation Section to head Zone ‘C’
Bauchi as Zonal Coordinator while Mr. Patrick Ubi
leaves Zone ‘C’ to head the ECOWAS and African
Affairs Section at the Service headquarters.
3. Also affected is
Mr. Bayo Akolade posted to take over from Mr. Femi
Ajisafe as head of the Passport Office. Mr.
Ajisafe has retired after 35 years of meritorious
Service.
4. Mr. Ayo Oredipe,
Comptroller of Immigration who just returned from
his post as Immigration Attaché at the Nigerian
Mission in South Africa has been re-deployed to
the Immigration Training School, Orlu, Imo State
as Commandant.
5. The posting order
which takes effect from30th June 2006 is a routine
exercise. |

TITLE: REMOVAL OF THE
REQUIREMENT OF “LETTER OF
INVITATION” FOR
INTENDING VISITORS AND BUSINESS
MEN TO NIGERIA. |

The Nigeria Immigration
Service wishes to inform the general public,
particularly the business community that intending
visitors and business men abroad no longer require
“letters of invitation” from their hosts or sponsors
in Nigeria as one of the conditions for obtaining
visiting, tourist or business visas from our High
Commissions and Embassies.
This is sequel to the approval of the Honourable
Minister of Internal Affairs, Amb. Magaji Muhammed
in exercising the powers conferred on him by section
33 of the Immigration Act.
The Comptroller General of Immigration, Mr.
Chukwurah Udeh avails himself of this opportunity to
assure Nigerians and the International Community
that the Nigeria Immigration Service will continue
to introduce necessary reforms in order to support
the Federal Government’s desire in making Nigeria a
preferred destination for foreign direct investment
and tourism as well as meet global best practices in
Migration Management.

TITLE: NIGERIA IMMIGRATION SERVICE
TO INTRODUCE
HARMONISED PILGRIMS
PASSPORT |

Sequel to the approval of
the President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed
Forces of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, the
Nigeria Immigration Service is set to commence the
issuance of the new harmonized Pilgrims Passport for
use by Christians and Moslems for all pilgrimages
abroad.
2. With this development, only holders of the
harmonized Pilgrims Passports will be allowed to
travel out for religious rites abroad, including Umrah.
3. The objective of this reform initiative is to check
the abuses associated with Nigerian travel documents
by unpatriotic Nigerians who use the canopy of
religious pilgrimage to perpetuate criminality.
4. The validity period of the harmonized Pilgrim
Passport is three (3) months from the date of issue.
5. The Comptroller General of Immigration Mr.
Chukwurah Udeh, avails himself of this platform to
appeal to Nigerians to support the on-going reforms by
the Nigeria Immigration Service aimed at ensuring best
practices in modern migration management by following
due process when applying for Immigration facilities.
